After suffering a massive stroke on April 17, 2019 and falling into a coma, director John Singleton’s family made the “agonizing decision” to take him off life support.
On April 29, 2019, Singleton died. He was 51.
Singleton made a huge impact as a filmmaker, including titles like “Boys n the Hood,” “Poetic Justice,” “2 Fast 2 Furious” and more.
At the age of 24, Singleton became the first African American and youngest person to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director.
